Tryouts are here, you put in a good effort and Congrats you get an offer, BUT……It’s only good for 24 hours.

This is one of the most maddening things in Youth Soccer to us. Clubs who use Fear mongering tactics of scarcity to force the decision without truly giving the player ample opportunity to see what else is out there that might be a better fit for their current development needs.

The way tryouts work in Tampa is already goofy enough. Per FYSA rules, if you are registered with a club you are unable to even speak or checkout another club until you are released. Well Generally when clubs release their players tryouts are just a few days away, never truly giving you an opportunity to explore.

The reason clubs do this is they don’t want you to look anywhere else. They turn into sleezy used car salesman and want to lock you down right now in hopes you can’t find something better.

If a club does this to you it’s because they are putting themselves and their needs first, NOT YOURS.

Clubs do this because they are not confident and scared if given the opportunity you may choose a different club.

To us we feel like we are going to be the best fit for some but not for others and that’s ok. We would rather you explore your options and make the right decision for you.

We feel making the right decision can take time to process. There are many factors to consider when choosing the right club for you development.

They last thing we want to do is pressure someone into joining our club only to find out they made a mistake. That’s not fair to you, to the club, to the coach and to the other players on the team.

The only way clubs are going to stop using these high-pressure sales tactics is when the parents say “Enough is Enough” and stop buying into the madness. Parents shouldn’t be afraid to say….

“Thank you so much for believing in my player and giving him/her an offer, we have one more club we would like to look at before making a commitment. We just want to do what is best for his/her development.”

At Sporting Tampa Bay the players come first! And we mean all players, no matter where you choose to train and play. We have a belief to support the advancement of this beautiful game and the players who play it no matter where you are from or where you play.

Please know we are here as a resource in helping you navigate this decision, even if your choice is ultimately not to move forward with Sporting Tampa Bay.
